Partner Spotlight:
The Denver Green School Food Pantry

Led entirely by volunteers, the DGS Food Pantry now serves nearly 3000 people a week and distributes more than 1 million pounds of food each year. Each week they operate a choice-model food pantry at DGS and in Montbello, allowing people to take home the food that works best for themselves and their family. Sandy and her team also send home food bags to 120 kids each Friday and distribute to hundreds more families, and young people experiencing homelessness, a partnership with Thrive Behavioral Health.

Through SCF’s partnership with the DGS Food Pantry, produce grown at the Denver Green School Community farm is shared directly with the families and students it was grown to nourish—strengthening the connection between the farm, the school, and the broader community!

Meet our Assistant Farm Managers!

Brie Oakley, MAP

Brie grew up in Colorado with a love for the outdoors and new adventures. After college, she worked on a peony farm in Alaska through the WWOOF program before apprenticing at Caretaker Farm. She later returned to Colorado to farm at Highwater Farm and most recently served as CSA Manager at Red Wagon Farm. Through these experiences, Brie has worked across many aspects of vegetable farming—from leading harvests and volunteer groups to coordinating CSA pick-ups and youth programs. She’s passionate about small-scale agriculture and the way farms can bring communities together around local food.
